‘to be going to’

‘to be going to’ – learn and practise English grammatical construction – to be going to’. You will get to know rules of forming and using this grammar form.

When do we use it?

Use 1
to talk about planned actions and intentions
Examples
I am going to start university next autumn.
I am going to learn more.
Use 2
to talk about actions intented to perform in the near future
Examples
I am going to visit my aunt tommorow.
She is going to do some shopping later.
Use 3
to make predictions made on evidence
Examples
Look at those dar clouds. It is going to rain.
He is going to fall into that hole.
Use 4
to talk about something that we are certain is going to happen
Examples
They are going to move abroad soon.
He is going to start a new job next month.

Typical words:

  • tomorrow
  • tonight
  • next week/month
  • soon
  • the day after tomorrow
  • in a week/month
